Original Red Bus Village Tour from Ayia Napa & Protaras

This approximately three-hour morning tour takes guests from the coastal resorts of Ayia Napa and Protaras into the quieter eastern interior of Cyprus, where fishing villages give way to farming communities and the landscape carries the visible weight of recent history. The route threads through Liopetri, Avgorou, Vrysoulles, Frenaros and Deryneia. Along the way, a live English-speaking guide covers local crops — Cyprus potatoes among them — village customs, churches, festivals and memorials. Coastal sights near the start may include Ayia Napa Marina, an old seaside church and fishing boats. At the halfway point there is a refreshment stop at the Bee Park, where complimentary seasonal fruit is served. The tour includes a stop near the abandoned village of Achna, where the guide explains the events of 1974 and the significance of the Divided Line. Guests then reach a viewpoint on the southern side of the line with views towards Varosha, the ghost district that has been closed since 1974. This tour does not enter Varosha.
