About Ayia Napa

Ayia Napa sits on the southeast coast of Cyprus, with sandy beaches west of its centre and Cape Greco's rocky headland to the east. Nissi Beach draws a lively beach crowd, while Landa and the Makronissos bays offer other places to spend a day by the sea. Around the central square, the medieval monastery sits close to the bars and clubs that shape the town's nightlife. Add the Thalassa sea museum, Makronissos Tombs and a walk around the old harbour for a fuller picture of the town. Things to do in Ayia Napa include coastal boat trips, snorkelling and excursions to Cape Greco's trails and sea caves. Protaras lies beyond the headland and is a separate resort. Before booking a cruise, check whether boarding is at Ayia Napa Harbour, the newer marina west of town or a departure point in Protaras. Spring and autumn suit coastal walks; in summer, plan exposed sightseeing early and leave time for shade.

Local Events and Festivals

What is coming up here

A nearby coastal outing west of Ayia Napa, these Orthodox feast services at Saint Thekla chapel begin with festive vespers and continue with the feast-day liturgy.

Festive vespers are scheduled for 18:30 on Wednesday. On Thursday, the Divine Liturgy begins at 06:00, followed by vespers and the Great Supplicatory Canon at 18:30. The chapel is on the Ayia Thekla coast west of central Ayia Napa. This is on the Ayia Thekla coast associated with Sotira, rather than in central Ayia Napa.

Official page

Official page

An international sailing regatta and public maritime programme bring racing, a sailing fair, specialist talks and an awards ceremony to Ayia Napa Marina.

The day combines the regatta with maritime activities at the marina's Event Plaza, a Sailing and Shipping Fair, specialist talks and a closing ceremony. The full timetable and participation information are still to be announced.

Official page

A three-day international open-water swimming weekend at Ayia Napa Marina, with distances for experienced swimmers, teams and children.

Friday is reserved for registration and the event expo, with shorter and team races on Saturday and the main distance races on Sunday. Advance registration and payment are required to race; visitors can watch from the marina event hub.
