Limassol, also known as Lemesos, stretches along the south coast of Cyprus. Start in the old town around the medieval castle, home to the Cyprus Medieval Museum, then explore the narrow streets and places to eat near the Old Port. Follow the waterfront west to the marina or east along Molos, with its sculptures and piers. The historic centre and central seafront work well on foot, while the city's long coastal strip extends beyond this compact walking area. Things to do in Limassol extend beyond the centre. Amathus lies to the east, while Kourion, near Episkopi to the west, is a separate archaeological excursion. The foothills and wine villages of the Troodos Mountains offer another day out, including Omodos. Allow time for travel between these places: they are not stops on an old town walking route.
