About Paphos

Paphos, also spelled Pafos, sits on the southwest coast of Cyprus. Start in Kato Paphos, where the harbour, medieval castle and coastal promenade sit beside the archaeological park and its Roman mosaics. Visit the Tombs of the Kings for monumental rock-cut tombs, then head uphill to Ktima, the Old Town, for markets, small shops and cafés. These are two distinct parts of the city, so plan time to explore both. Paphos combines archaeological sightseeing with beach time and makes a useful base for exploring western Cyprus. Things to do in Paphos range from harbour walks and historic sites to boat trips, snorkelling and guided excursions. For a sandy beach day, consider Coral Bay in nearby Peyia. For the Blue Lagoon on the Akamas coast, check the departure port: selected excursions include a transfer from Paphos to a boat in Latchi. Spring and autumn suit walking and sightseeing; in summer, visit exposed sites early and leave time for shade. Before booking, compare pickup points, time on the water, swimming stops and suitability for your group.
